Fusterlandia

Fusterlandia by Joaquín Rodríguez José Rodríguez Fuster graduated from the School of Art Instructors of Cuba in 1965. He began his professional career at the Cubanacán Pottery Workshop. He is considered one of the founders of the New Cuban Ceramics, since then his work has been so assiduous that many are inclined to identify him mainly as a ceramist. Nevertheless observing the firm brushstrokes, the absolute dominion of the color and the composition in his paintings and drawings then some prefer to speak of the painter. On the other hand, the amazing sculptures with which he has embellished his home and its surroundings make it not easy to pigeonhole this artist in a specific style. He was born on August 6, 1946 in Caibarien a small fishing village located on the north coast of the center of the island of Cuba. From there he moved to the town, also coastal, Santa Fe in the province of Havana. Finally in 1975 he moved to the village of Jaimanita where he currently resides. This town is located on the north coast of Cuba about 15 km west of the center of the city of San Cristobal de la Habana next to the mouth of the river Jaimanita

The artistic transformations that he has made to his house, to the facades of some neighbors and to some public places of his surroundings have acquired so much relevance that the place has been baptized with the name of Fusterlandia and has become a tourist destination. Fusterlandia has its center in the 3A ave. between the streets 224 and 226 Jaimanitas, Playa, Havana, Cuba. Some time ego I was in fusterlandia and I have taken many photos. Mr. Fuster with mastery of his technique in painting, drawing, sculpture and ceramics, his work shows remarkable conceptual and stylistic unity within the diversity of techniques and materials that he usually uses. He has transformed the place where he is living in a large mural how I will show the following images.
